Leisure and Food

During the weekends and holidays, families take advantage of the stunning landscape. Windsor Great Park, part of the Royal Landscape, covering over 2,000 hectares of parkland, enables residents in the local area to walk for miles, run with friends and cycle as families. Surrounded by great pubs such as the Fox and Hounds and leading right down to the Long Walk – a family favourite for conker collecting – it is common for much of family life to focus on this amazing space. Savill Garden provides a welcome meeting place for delicious cakes and refreshments following a morning of active family fun.

The area is widely known for the plethora of world-renowned golf courses: Wentworth, Sunningdale, the Berkshire, Windlesham and Foxhills are among the leading names.

Further over to the western boundary of this area, Swinley Forest gives active families the chance to ‘go Ape’ or to explore science at the Lookout Discovery Centre. Miles of cycle tracks and pine trees lend themselves perfectly to days spent building dens and exploring.

High on everyone’s list is to find a favorite local restaurant. Coworth Park, the Dorchester hotel in the country bordering the village of Sunningdale, offers a range of options from the exquisite Mansion House restaurant to the more relaxed but equally delicious Barn and Spatisserie. Bluebells in Sunningdale, Pennyhill Park in Bagshot (where you may be lucky to spot the English rugby team training) and Stovells in Chobham are all listed on everyone’s favourite restaurants for a treat!

For those looking to eat in, Quintessential meats at Fernygrove Farm, Lewis’ Butchers in Sunningdale / Ascot and the Duchy Shop in Windsor are fabulous points of call.
