The holy grail in central cambridge is a period family house with large garden (some even have pools and tennis courts) but these start at around £3m and rarely come to market. Prices for a 4-bed terraced house in the city start at £750,000, rising to £1.1m for a modest 5-bed detached house. With developments springing up, a modern property will be easier to secure. in the necklace villages around the city, expect to pay from £750,000 for a detached family house but this reduces to £650,000 at around the 10-mile radius.
