Things to do

RHS Wisley is a stone’s throw away down the A3, which is a great day out for mums with young children. Just down the road from Wisley is Painshill Park that offers a beautiful walk and a stunning Crystal grotto and Hatchlands in West Clandon, a beautiful national trust property. Also the lovely grounds and house of Polsden Lacey make for a lovely walk/lunch.

If you are keen on cycling Box Hill is fantastic but there are wonderful cycling routes throughout Surrey. Alice Holt and Birdworld near Farnham are both popular. Alice Holt offers beautiful walks in the forest, cycling and Go Ape. Frensham Pond has a Sailing Club and the Surrey Sports Park in guildford has an olympic pool, huge tness centre and sports pitches.

There are, of course, heaps of excellent pubs. The Bel and the Dragon in Churt between Farnham and Haslemere is part of Joel Cadbury’s gastro chain and very popular. The Duke of Cambridge in Tilford is good after a stomp around Frensham Ponds. The Mill in Elstead offers a great lunch after walking round Hankley Common or The Merry Harriers in Hambledon. other great pubs in the area include The Percy Arms at Chilworth, Seahorse Shalford, The Spotted Cow Lower Bourne and the Swan Inn Chiddingfold.

For those with a taste for the arts the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre in guildford puts on many West End productions and The Maltings in Farnham has a great programme of theatre, craft, music, film and festivals.
