If you are planning on sending your children to a particular village school you will need to live close to that village (see above for most sought after ones). In the private sector you can combine closeness to school with closeness to the station.

Ages 21/2 –13, co-ed. Day, fexi and full boarding. Fantastic setting overlooking the estuary in enormous grounds with pitches, golf course, swimming pool, tennis courts. A very happy school producing polite, confdent children. most children go on to boarding schools.

Senior Schools

Ipswich High and Ipswich School (see above) also Colchester County High School and Colchester Grammar (both from 11+) are very academic.

The Royal Hospital School, Ipswich (11+) is both day and boarding. it has a naval background and attracts both locals and naval families from all over England. it is campus based overlooking the estuary in beautiful grounds.

Woodbridge School has a small number of boarding places or the bus links are good.

Popular boarding schools a little further afeld include Framlingham, Oundle, Rugby and Uppingham.
