Jill Forbes and her little ones enjoyed the full resort experience at Forte Village:
Just an hour’s taxi from Cagliari, past salt plains with wading amingos, we arrived at Forte Village for our debut ‘resort’ experience. No cars allowed so we transferred our luggage to a waiting golf buggy and set off. Our bungalow suite in La Dune Hotel had light, bright interiors and local Sardinian furniture and was close to the sea and kids’ club.
You get about by bike which you can hire by the day and, with no traf c to worry about, it was the perfect place for my 4 year old to learn! The sports facilities for both children and adults alike are amazing. And at peak times, the fantastic Legend Holidays run academies for kids, led by famous sporting faces.
For younger kids or those not wanting to go down the sport route, there is a fab kids’ Club complete with its own pool, activity centre and Barbie Academy, run by the most welcoming smiley staff. A highlight of my son’s week – and secretly my husband’s – was the waterslides in one of the swimming pools. They never tired of racing each other down a tube and splashing into the pool at the end.
We had been worried about the forced fun in the evening, but Forte does this in style too. Adult kick-arounds on the football pitches are fun and we joined in listening to the live music under the stars in the piazza each evening. It’s a holiday where you can be together and independent. Kids can have fun doing their own thing, playing sports or joining in the fun at the kids’ club whilst parents relax on the beach or at the spa, but it’s equally the perfect place for real family time.
