Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery

The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize (celebrating contemporary portrait photography) opens 16th November. We loved it. Click on link for our review. Tickets: £6, under 12s free.

Archive Detectives at the National Maritime Museum

Families can become detectives this weekend at the National Maritime Museum. Solve the mystery of Crimean Tom, the cat who survived the Crimean War and was brought to back to England as a pet. Open all weekend. Sessions from 10.30am–12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm.

Hogwarts in the Snow at Warner Bros. Studio Tour

Spot wreaths and garlands in the Hogwarts Great Hall which will be lined with Christmas trees, decked with golden baubles and topped with witches on miniature broomsticks, as well as a replica feast. One side of the Great Hall will be dedicated to savoury props, featuring roast turkeys, hams studded with cherries and bowls of potatoes, while the other will be devoted to sweet treats including flaming Christmas puddings and iced cakes. Opens this Sunday. Perfect treat for the whole family. Tickets: £39 adults, £31 kids, under 4s free.

Sleepyhead at the Little Angel Theatre

Charming show for pre-schoolers at the Little Angel Theatre. All Dad wants after a long day is for Baby to go to sleep. But Baby has other ideas... 17th Nov–4th Feb. Tickets:£13, £11.

Matilda's Magical Eyes at the Roald Dahl Museum

Kids can find out more about Roald Dahl’s ideas for Matilda’s eye power and what it could do, then make magical glasses and colourful kaleidoscopes to focus their eye power! Sunday, 19th November. Ages 4+. £3 per child.

Behind the Scenes of Paddington 2 at the Museum of London 

A lovely display providing a glimpse behind the scenes focusing on the costumes and props used in Paddington 2, including Paddington's hat and suitcase, the infamous pop-up book and loads more! Free, just drop in. Until 19th December.
