On Thursday 5 June 2008 Battersea Park will play host to the second annual Family Festival of Running to raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
 
Designed for every ability and age; this event will provide a safe and fun introduction to running along traffic-free flat roads.  The festival kicks off at 17:30 with a variety of distances:

Under 9’s – 1km  
Wheelchairs and  helpers - 2.5km  
Under 13’s –  3km
Under 15’s -  3km  
Seniors (15+)  & Masters – 5km  

A festival atmosphere is guaranteed with prize-giving, face-painting, leg-massages, goodie bags and plenty of refreshments for participants.
 
BBC’s ‘My Family’ star, Robert Lindsay, supporter of Family Festival of Running, said:
 
"We all know how important it is to stay fit nowadays.  By joining the Family Festival of Running, it's your chance to include the whole family in a fun activity with something for every age.  Even more importantly you'll be helping to raise vital funds for the very sick children at Great Ormond Street Hospital."

The Family Festival of Running is expected to raise over £31,000 towards the maintenance of 16 rooms for parents to stay in whilst their children are at Great Ormond Street Hospital.  The reassurance for both patient and family to be nearby during a child’s treatment is invaluable.
 
Michelle Grant, mother to Beth, a Great Ormond Street Hospital patient, said:
 
"When we were down for Beth's operation we felt that one of us had to be there for her all the time and as we live so far away from the hospital it would have been impossible for us to commute, so it was a great relief to stay at the parent accommodation”

Registration fees for entrants:

Over-15' -  £15.00, Under-15s' - £8.50, Under-9s' & wheelchairs -  £5.50

A donation of £2 will be made from each entry fee to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
