Some people say that they love it, others say they hate it, but for most of us Christmas evokes a combination of love and hate. The difficulties partly arise from the unrelenting desire to get it right and the more we try to do this the more unhealthy it becomes. So how can we survive it? Apart from a fortnight in the Caribbean, the following may help
Universal Christmas Remedy:
Homeopathic holly 30c
This is not readily available in the shops but can be ordered by mail order from Helios Homeopathic Pharmacy 01892 536393. Holly helps to keep children and adults strong through Christmas so that everyone can cope with all the emotional as well as the physical stress. It helps us to stay centred and cheerful and not to take the critical attitudes and opinions of others to heart. It is also a fantastic remedy for those of us who definitely find our mood blackens in the winter months (SAD). My recommendation would be that the whole family takes one tablet every 3–4 days from early December. However, if you feel great after one dose it is best not to repeat it until the effect has worn off.
For excitment and difficulty getting to sleep:
Phosphorus 6c: Helps us not to burn out. It is especially useful if the recipient is very excited as well as anxious.
Coffea 6c: Required when highly excited and woken by the slightest noise.
Nux vomica 6: Required when there is difficulty getting to sleep and the recipient is highly irritable.
These are available in Boots and most health food shops.
Over indulgence:
Nux vomica 6c: Excellent remedy when the kids feel sick from all that junk food. If it has been really excessive this remedy will actually make them sick, so do not take it without waiting half an hour before going to bed. It is also the most fantastic hangover remedy for adults. If you are conscious enough, take one before going to bed. Otherwise take one every half an hour the next day.
Silver birch 6c: Only available by mail order from Helios Homeopathic Pharmacy 01892 536393. For kids who over-indulge or become addicted to computer games. Helps them to relax, release aggression and contemplate tree climbing!
