All-inclusive holidays have a bit of a reputation. The all-you-can eat buffets do tend to be a bit downmarket. Or so I thought. But I’d heard nothing but good about Club Med. They have just launched a crèche in Club Med Marrakech, so we decided to give it a try. Morocco is easy to get to. By the time your
kids have got through High School Musical 1 and 3 (don’t bother with 2), you are there with an overwhelming feeling of “I can’t believe I only left home four hours ago and now I’m somewhere incredibly romantic and exotic.”
The rooms were nice. Nothing too flash but clean and nicely set up. In the morning we woke up to an intoxicating hazy heat – the stone walls soaked it up and I stared for a while at the life beyond the resort where some boys were laughing and kicking a football near a grazing goat. Then went to breakfast. The
food was fantastic and totally all-inclusive. The huge rolling buffet was so imaginative it felt like Disneyland. I actually took photos of it. There was a free ten-minute coach transfer to the central Marrakech Club Med hotel. We had a mesmerising evening overlooking the Medina – lit by tea lights and plumes of smoke.
The newly opened crèche was squeaky clean with lots of brightly coloured beanbags. There were structured activities like gardening and nature sessions and swimming in a fantastic child-friendly pool. Plus lots of parades and treasure hunts. Surreal at moments but fun.
We loved all the activities, dance classes, bike rides and some fab beauty treatments. My daughter didn’t want to leave and insists on wearing her beige Club Med T-shirt constantly. I’m going back again next year to buy her a pink one.
