The Oxford and Regent Street Christmas lights are now on!
Further lights go on throughout November:
Chelsea
5 Nov, 4.15–6.30pm. The ‘switch on’ takes place in Duke of York’s Square at
5pm simultaneously lighting up the square and the King’s Road. Preceeded by a
family carol service in Holy Trinity Church (4.15pm) where St Nicholas arrives
(with real reindeer) and leads a procession to the square.
Covent Garden
The lights go on this year on 9 Nov. Mulled wine, mince pies and carol singing.
Rudolph and his friends will once again return to the Piazza for reindeer petting on selected dates throughout November and December.
Marylebone High Street
16 Nov, 3.30-6.30pm. This combines with a special seasonal Cabbages & Frocks
Market complete with snowflakes, small pyrotechnics, Father Christmas Grotto,
tombola and stage shows making it one of the nicest events of its type.
Old & New Bond Street
17 Nov, 6–9pm. Music, jugglers and ice sculptures.
But Christmas doesn’t really start until the tree in Trafalgar Square is lit and
you will have to wait until 1 December for that. Regular carol services take
place in the square from 5–22 December.
