For any true domestic goddesses out there, you should really make your own in the fashion of Nigella which really are surprisingly easy but the bought alternative are so delicious and plentiful it seems crazy to bother.

Little piles of delight fill every bakery in town and the smell of cinnamon and raisins is mouth-watering.

Patisserie Valerie’s are a bit too big and curranty.

Maison Blanc’s were nice and small, delicious and cheap.

Gails, with a new bakery to add to its fleet in Queen's Park are perfection.

Daylesford have wheat free and normal, and surprisingly the wheat free are delicious. Quite heavy, but hot from the oven with butter. Yummy.

The top of the supermarket crop have to be Waitrose, but don't be fooled into buying any chocolate or cranberry alternative the Luxury Fruited Hot Cross Buns are the only ones to get. 

M&S have got theirs right too, nice and fruity and not too dense.

The children love them and there feels something wonderfully traditional about eating them before Easter.
