Admissions Procedure: At 7 via tests in English, maths, reasoning, plus interviews. School not aiming to cream off the brightest - "I want the range," says head. Unashamedly mixed ability.

Children go on to:Some girls leave at 11 for St Albans Girls School, Habeerdashers', Abbots Hill, Queenswood, St Margaret's, Watford Girls Grammar and other good local schools. Boys stay until 13 with a few leaving at 11. They go to Aldenham, Mill Hill, Harrow, Haileybury, Eton, St Alban's, Wellington, and many more.

Further information: There are twenty-five acres here -  only fifteen miles from the centre of London - and it's a bit of a miracle. You arrive down a short drive through fields, just past the pretty village of Aldenham. A quiet, tree-studded, safe-feeling school. SEN's well identified and then expectationally well catered for. Fewer boarders now adays.
