Admissions Procedure: No entrance test, but previous school report requested and children visit for informal assessment before entry.

Children go on to: Nearly three-quarters to Wellington College at 13, with the rest heading for schools like Winchester, Eton, Bradfield, Shiplake, Downe House and St Swithun's.

Further information: Owned by Wellington College but run independently. Uses many of Wellington's facilities,  the two heads meet regularly, and the prep has caught the infectious Anthony Seldon mega-energy-bug. Sport, the arts, music, academics – all going strong. The week is long but children get a 90-minute lunch break and are encouraged to make the most of it (lunchtime activities include street dance, trampolining, food technology and choir). Boarders housed in main school building – boys at one end, girls at the other.
