This tiny museum tucked away next to Lambeth bridge almost feels like a secret. Step into the old St Mary's Church (now a museum, cafe and arts space) and out into the garden beyond to be transported to another time and place.

The museum inside is simple and old-fashioned. The best thing to see is definitely the garden itself: at its heart is a knot garden designed by the Museum’s President, The Dowager Marchioness of Salisbury. The seventeenth-century design of the garden honours the great plant-hunters, gardeners and collectors, John Tradescant the Elder (c.1570-1638) and Younger (1608-1662) whose tombs are housed here.

Veggies and herbs from the garden are used in the charming cafe that serves up delicious 'real' food. And there are wonderful Family Activity days throughout the year where children can get creative.
