Poster Girls

Poster Girls Mabel Lucie Atwell

We went to the press view for Poster Girls, the latest exhibition at the London Transport Museum thinking that it might be nice to write up for mums in need of some me time. And, indeed, it ticks that box in spades. A host of uber-talented female artists from the 'golden age' of the Tube to the present day in an uplifting social commentary of the last century of London.

So if you happen to be in Covent Garden do go on your own. BUT, and this we didn't expect to say, take your children too. Artistic older kids brought up in London will love the range of designs of recognisable places and events: Kensington Gardens, Parliament Hill, the Cup Final, Wimbledon.

Younger visitors are fully catered for too. In an ingenious touch, there is almost a parallel exhibition at skirting board level - complete with loads of fun interactive, including our favourite, some poppies that really smell!

The price of the ticket may seem steep (under 18s are free) but it includes unlimited visits to the Museum for a year. And the permanent collection is a haven for little ones.

If you are not working and have pre-school children, we urge you, find a friend who also has babes, take a morning and head there NOW!
