Hatfeld House is a Jacobean House with gardens and a park and its own Real tennis club and court. Knebworth House is set in 250 acres of country park and is the venue of regular rock and pop festivals. It also has a playground known as the Fort and the very popular dinosaur trail. Benington Lordship has a beautiful garden open to the public at certain times of the year and is most well known for its snowdrop festival.
Standon hosts one of the uK’s best small music festivals – Standon Calling, in August. There is a renowned shooting school at Nuthampstead and golf courses can be found at Barkway Park, 5 miles south east of Royston, The East Herts Golf Club, between Buntingford and Ware, and also at the Great Hadham Country Club. For anyone horsey there is the very popular Puckeridge Pony Club with the Brent Pelham Show attracting lots of visitors.
Shopping is good in Bishops Stortford and also Buntingford, home to Hall and glory, an interiors and clothing boutique which is a must to visit and the Cheese Plate which is a small shop offering over 200 cheeses to choose from.
The Imperial War Museum at Duxford is hugely popular with all generations, as it houses some of the most iconic aircrafts in the world.
