Food & Drink

There are a number of great farm shops in the area selling delicious local produce. The Food Company, just off the A12 at marks tey a little south of Colchester, has it all from wonderful cheeses to fresh fsh and meat. Stratford St Mary just north of Colchester offers an amazing range of fruit, veg, meat and delicious cakes and also good presents. they have recently opened a restaurant – go and visit. Further north but very convenient for the school run if your children are ipswich-bound is the Suffolk Food Hall: like being transported to a delicious London deli! An amazing range of local produce and a good Home & garden department. they have also recently opened a new restaurant with stunning views over the orwell Estuary.

it would be sad to move somewhere without good watering holes. there are plenty of pretty high quality pubs and more opening. We recommend The Sun Inn, Dedham, The Anchor in nayland, The Crown in Stoke by nayland, The Treble Tile, West Bergholt, The Lindsey Rose, Lindsey, The Thorn at mistley, The Ram in Hadleigh.

A little further afeld the Great House in Lavenham is a delicious French restaurant which also has a few rooms above. the new Burstall Coach House nearer to Stowmarket but worth going to serves fantastic italian food.

For seafood lovers it is hard to beat The Company Shed at mersea. Serving up delicious fresh oysters, seafood and fsh defnitely worth a visit.

Colchester and ipswich both have the standard Pizza Express and Chinese/indian restaurants. We are still lacking a quality Japanese but you never know!
