It has been snowing pretty much non-stop in the Alps, meaning there should be a great base for a fantastic season ahead. Here's our pick of the current deals for skiing with kids:
Great value in La Plagne with Ski Famille
La Plagne in the French Alps is ideal for families. Stay at Ski Famile's newly renovated Chalet Nicole and enjoy a hot tub, spa room, sauna and steam room. With 6 family suites and two twin rooms, the large family chalet is just 3 minutes from ski school drop off. Especially good for those travelling with the very young, make use of Monty's Pyjama Patrol, the complimentary baby listening service.
Available for the February half term. A family of four costs £4,499 incl flights & t/fers. skifamille.co.uk
Unrivalled Kids Programmes with Powder Byrne
We rate the Powder Byrne kids' ski programme as the best around. While they are not a cheap option, they have some great opportunities for both Feb half term and Easter. Peaks Place in the Swiss resort of Laax is a brilliant example of the new breed of upmarket self catering. Apartment-style accommodation with multiple bedrooms, a lovely restaurant for breakfast if you don't want to do it yourself and a stunning pool (see below). And is just a stone's throw from Laax base station.
Prices from £2399 per person sharing a family apartment, including flights from London and luxury transfers for the half term week. www.powderbyrne.com
Friendly Terminal Neige Hotel in Flaine
Daisy stayed at Terminal Neige last Easter when the doors had just opened and was completely wowed by this modern, easy-going hotel. Situated in the modern, practical town of Flaine, with a rich art history, the hotel overlooks the slopes on one side, and the town square on the other, where there's an ice rink and miniature sledging slope. This season the Loft is newly opened, with 3 bedrooms and it's own sitting room complete with fireplace. Book by the night so stay a few nights or as long as you like. Rooms from €240 per night. totem.terminal-neige.com
Chatel, on the French/Swiss border, is linked to the huge Porte du Soleil circuit, but retains the feel of a family French resort. We love the look of Clarian Chalets' La Grange au Merle. Sleeping up to 15, this picture-perfect chalet was totally redone last season and would be a dreamy base for a group of families travelling together. Winter prices have been reduced by 15% and there is still availability for the whole chalet for a couple of weeks in March (from £8,715 including food, wine, chalet manager, chef and driver). In-chalet childcare is available at an extra cost for full or half-days. Or if you would like the hassle of flights and transfers taken care of, La Grange is on the books of a&u favourite Tots Too, which has added ski to its books.
From £5,000 per week for a family of four, including flights and transfers. totstoo.com
