After-school and weekend kids' indoor activity classes for the Spring term 2018
Channel your kids' renewed energy into an inspiring after-school and/or weekend activity or class this Spring term. It's a short term so an ideal opportunity to try something new. Remember, too, though that, at this time of year, it will be dark after school certainly for the first half of the term – and cold, we've seen the longterm weather forecast – so it's probably not the term to start a new outdoor activity.
Still not on the coding bandwagon? Maybe now is the term to start? It's recommended for ages as young as 6+ at BlueShift Coding. Two of the a&u kids did a Creative Writing holiday course with Yellowbird Education in the Christmas holidays (4 long mornings) and 'actually really enjoyed it' so we highly recommend them. We are focusing this week on indoor activities with our Tried & Tested favourites and a link to all the rest that London has to offer. Inspire the next generation ... catch up next week on Sports classes (indoors and outdoors).

Drama and music after-school and weekend classes and workshop
Oh my goodness, it's no surprise that the UK is riding high with acting talent in films, TV and stage. If your child has a urge to go on the stage or if they are shy and they want to build more confidence joining one of the many drama classes might be a brilliant first step. Here are our top recommendations – please let us know of any new good group you'd like us to recommend.
Allsorts Drama in Notting Hill and Knightsbridge is running by the lovely Melissa. We have lovely memories of coming to see many a kids' production. They really encourage friendships among the group as well as getting the best acting experience. Like many drama clubs, you might get the chance to audition for a West End production or even a film (like ours did for Nanny McPhee). They hold after-school and Saturday classes
Dramarama Stage School has classes in Hampstead: drama, street dance and musical theatre for ages 5–11. Dramatots for ages 3–4.
Upbeat classes are a whole lot of fun. Sing, dance and record a CD – you can even perform at an Upbeat gig. Saturdays and holidays in Chelsea, Parson's Green, Clapham and Wandsworth.
Stagecoach has had a superb reputation for many years as a brilliant drama school. They put on the best performances and many a star has been born ... Venues all across London with lots of after-school, weekend and holiday courses.

Ballet after-school and weekend classes and workshops
There are so many good ballet schools in London. Theses are our favourite. It is worth taking up the offer of trial lessons as schools differ as to what exams they put kids up for and what level of strictness and smartness they insist on ...
The Angela Grant School of Dance has RAD classes in West London from age 2.5. Many talented aspiring ballerinas are born here ...
Primrose Hill Ballet Schools has ballet, modern and tap classes for ages 3+ in Belsize Park, Hampstead and Swiss Cottage.
The Ballet School has Saturday and holiday classes in Bayswater, Notting Hill, Brook Green, Wandsworth, Barnes and Fulham.

Off the beaten track - something a bit different
Editors Annie and Emily tried Circus Skills for one of our Mumszone activities – it really is a fabulous activity to try, engaging both brain (as it requires lots of concentration) and also core strength. In a group it is also a great way to make out-of-school friends. Albert & Friends Instant Circus in Hammersmith runs after-school and Saturday classes featuring aerial trapeze, juggling and balancing on the tightrope. On Saturdays parents can join in too!
Everyone is talking about healthy eating. Gill's Cookery workshops in North London are legendary. There is still space for tomorrow's course and she will be running more in the months ahead.
Learn a language or improve English
