After-school and weekend kids' sporty classes for the Spring term 2018
Channel your kids' renewed energy into an inspiring after-school and/or weekend activity or class this Spring term.
Getting kids involved into any sport or activity is important for both their health and social skills and what better way to get them moving by enrolling them into a top football, tennis, golf or swimming class. Have a little browse below, there's bound to be an activity your children will love! Make sure to scroll to the very end of the page to see the miscellaneous section if you fancy something a bit different.
Sports after-school and weekend activities
Multi-sport and Football after-school and weekend classes
Fit for Sport runs fantastic Activity Camps during every school holiday for kids aged 4–12 at numerous venues all across London. These camps are a great way for children to stay active and keep moving whist making friends and trying new activities. They also do fun Extended School Clubs where kids can release their energy after a long day of classes.
Rocks Lane has three locations in west London, specifically in Barnes, Chiswick and Bishops Park. All venues have multi-use floodlit courts (perfect for the dark afternoons) where kids can play football, netball, cricket, hockey and tennis. They also run very flexible holiday programmes where parents can book their kids in for a couple of hours, only an afternoon or a whole week of camp. It is worth mentioning their extremely popular Friday Night 5s children's football league.
The Little Foxes Club offers term-time 15-week courses in Football, Tennis, Tag Rugby, Multi-Sports, Gym & Softplay, Hockey and Netball. They have a wonderful toddler group called Petite Foxes which caters for ages 18 months–2. The Little Foxes Club encourage a non-competitive environment and believe enjoyment above all else.
Danny Grant Soccer School hold the most brilliant football classes for ages 3+. They have a wide choice of weekly after-school classes, play matches and holiday camps. They have already released the details of their February half term camp (12–16 February at South Hampstead High School, NW3) and are taking bookings. Make sure to sign up quickly as it sure will be a sell-out.
Kiddikicks train children as young as 18 months! They have venues all across London - parents can easily find the nearest venue with a quick search on the website. They also do Skills & Match Play for kids aged 5–7 and Futsal Style Coaching for older kids (7+).
K4S Academies run technical and development sessions and goalkeeper trainings after school on Tuesdays at the Latymer Sports Ground and Saturday mornings at Ravenscourt Park. Plus Holiday Training Camps are on every school holiday. Each day of the camps includes individual skills and mastery, technical drills, tactical practices, small-sided games, coached matches, and a daily tournament.
Riding and golf after-school and weekend classes
Trent Park Equestrian Centre in Barnet is a true equestrian haven. Parents can book a 30-min or an hour of individual or group riding lessons (prices start at £27). More experienced riders can sign up for horse hacking in the woodland of Trent Country Park which is nestled within the countryside of Middlesex and Hertfordshire. They also run non-residential pony camps, Tuesday to Friday during all school holidays for children ages 7–14 of any ability. Pony days & pony weeks for beginner and intermediate riders, pony day plus days/ weeks for the more advanced riders and ‘tiny tots’ mornings for children 4-6yrs.
Stag Lodge Stables has classes in lovely Richmond park: pony rides from ages 3+, Pony Club, riding training focusing on dressage, jumping and showing. They run Holiday Pony Weeks every school holiday for ages 5–12. All their dates for 2018 are available now - we recommend booking in advance!
Central London Golf Centre classes are a whole lot of fun. Kids can try a taster class if they do not want to commit to a whole term but the centre also offers proper golf lessons during the week after school and on the weekends. Junior Golf Camps run every school holiday for ages 7–14.
Strawberry Hill Golf Club has a very active junior programme. There are regular competitions throughout the year, some serious and some fun and they organise competitions against other Clubs and Sections of the Club. This helps the kids develop their match play skills and also to learn golf etiquette. For boys and girls aged 6–17.
Swimming and Tennis after-school and weekend classes
Swimming Rocks has swimming classes across London for newborn babies, skilled swimmers and anything in between. Offering only private (1:1) and shared (2:1) lessons for children and small group ratios for babies and toddlers, lessons are both progressive and educational. The swimming crash courses are available during school holidays. These are short but intensive swimming programmes for all ages and abilities.
Swimming Nature has weekly term-time 1:1 and 2:1 classes for ages 3mths–16. Children can perfect their strokes and gain confidence in water. They do fast track swimming courses during the school holidays with the aim to speed up children's swimming progress.
Annabel Croft Tennis Academy has weekly term-time classes for ages 3–17. They also run holiday courses on all of the key school holidays. Prices start from £180/week.
Henry Lamb Tennis has venues in Battersea, Putney, Fulham and Barnes. They offer term-time development group coaching for ages 4.5+, tennis camps during school holidays and a residential tennis camp during summer.
Will to Win has the most brilliant fun tennis classes for ages 3+ in Hyde Park, Chiswick, Regents Park, Lammas Park, Pitshanger Park and Greenwich. They also do drop-in sessions, tennis parties, squad training and holiday camps. They have two weeks of tennis camps scheduled for February half term - 5–16 February.
Off the beaten track - something a bit different
Castle Climbing Centre offers climbing club for Castle Minis (ages 5–8) and Castle Juniors (ages 9–14). In these classes children can learn climbing rope work, how to use the equipments safely and develop climbing skills. During the weekends and school holidays, they run Family Taster and Kids Fun Sessions. Both are excellent for getting an introduction to the world of climbing whilst having fun with your family.
Parkour Generations run Youth Parkour after-school classes on selected days during the week, indoors and outdoors for ages 7+. We love the Family Parkour classes where parents and kids can learn and exercise together in a safe environment. Sundays at 11am.
My Little Boarders teaches the basics of skateboarding and all the fun tricks in West London. Kids can sign up from ages 4+. Classes run after school, on the weekend and there are fab holiday skateboarding camps during school holidays. The next one coming up is the one running during February half term - 12–16 February!
A 2 Zen runs yoga classes for kids and babies every Friday in Shepherd's Bush. Give it a try, the first class is a free trial! They also offer private sessions and awesome yoga birthday parties.
