The BEST family holiday ever...
We are delighted to announce that four very special family travel gurus have agreed to help us find the best of the best in family travel.
MARINA FOGLE is the founder of London’s most popular antenatal class, The Bump Class. She produces the number 1 podcast, The Parent Hood, as well as writing for The Mail, The Telegraph and The Times.
She lives in London with her husband, the adventurer, Ben Fogle, their two children, Ludo and Iona and their dog Storm.

My favourite place in the world is probably the lakes of the Salzkammergut near Salzburg. Surrounded by steep mountains that plunge dramatically into clear blue water, these lakes are so clean that you can drink from them.
I’d love to go to South America. I’ve never been and my husband entranced me with stories of the years he spent there.
FRANCISCA KELLETT is a freelance travel writer and editor. She was most recently the Travel Editor at Tatler and now contributes regularly to the Financial Times, The Daily Telegraph and The Times, where she has a philanthropy column for LUXX Magazine. An eco-nut and hotel junkie, she spends more time that is strictly necessary in Africa, and loves writing about sustainability and conservation (she gets quite shouty about plastic). She is also the co-founder of Mundi & Co, a creative content agency for luxury hotels.
Favourite Place: Cape Town. The white-sand beaches, the wild mountain plonked in the middle of the city, the gorgeous architecture, the brilliant food and wine and the laid-back locals make it a spot I can't stay away from for long.
Top Spot for Next Year: Bhutan. I've wanted to go for years, but a clutch of new luxury hotels opening up has given me the perfect excuse to visit in 2019. And I'm taking my daughters to Morocco for the first time - I can't want to show them the crazy souks and the big skies of the Atlas Mountains.
ROSE ASTOR is a freelance travel writer who features regularly in the Sunday Times Travel section and Conde Nast Traveller. After spending 3 months on a family sabbatical in Sri Lanka last year, Rose stumbled into a new-found passion for yoga and is being trained to teach alongside her writing by TriYoga legend Julie Montagu.
Rose lives in the Cotswolds with her husband and three children.
She reckons the key to a good family holiday is sand. Her children don’t care if it’s Bognor or Barbados as long as they can dig. She is also a fan of 1:1 holidays with children and recently took her daughter to the Gritti Palace in Venice. Harry’s bar for a club sandwich at 7 and tucked up by 10.
Favourite Place: Unsurprisingly, Sri Lanka - from the white surfy sandy beaches of the south coast to the colonial tea country this small island (the same size of Ireland!) has it all.
JULIET KINSMAN set up Bouteco to share enlightening stories of sustainability. As a freelance journalist and hotel expert, Louis Vuitton City Guides author for London and New York and founding editor of Mr & Mrs Smith, she has spent much of the last two decades celebrating the world’s most special places to stay and her design and travel articles have appeared in various publications from The Week to Condé Nast Traveller. She’s a monthly guest on BBC Radio London.
She hates places that are contrived “for families” with horrid messy basement kids clubs that feel like remand centres just to free up their spoiled parents to have a spa treatment or so they can get trashed in the bar…

Favourite place: I love Australia — best darned food and drink in the world and everyone’s so positive and friendly — sets a great example on a human level to kids! Hotel wise, it would have be somewhere that is fantastically sustainable and also has a strong design element… Fogo Island Inn in Canada… And Capella Ubud in Bali for the ultimate glamping experience.
On my wish list for 2019: Desperate to get to Bhutan.
