There will always be those super-organised people who get their next skiing holiday booked the day they get back from this year’s, but if you haven’t quite got round to picking your slope for next season, fear not – there are still some great deals out there.
Don’t leave it too long though. Easter is late this year (Good Friday is 19th April) so school holidays don’t start until early April, ruling out those more snow-sure final weeks of March. The knock-on effect is New Year and half term are even more in demand than normal. So here are our top picks from some of our favourite family ski operators and the ski news we think you’ll find really helpful when planning your next trip.

Easter skiing, go high
Last season, there was heaps of snow well into May but in general, if you are skiing in the second half of April you need a HIGH resort. Top end favourite, Scott Dunn has availability at a number of chalets in Val d’Isere. Chalet Jupiter sleeps eight for £2,200 per person departing 14th April for a week or for a larger group Chalet Husky that sleeps 14 and is £3,700 per person for the week departing on 21st April. Prices include flights and transfers. Plus in Val d’Isere you can take advantage of their wonderful Scott Dunn Explorers Kids clubs that take little ones as young as four months up to teenagers. scottdunn.com
First steps on the slopes

Self-drive to La Rosiere
Sitting high on the sunny slopes above Bourg St Maurice, facing Les Arcs across the Tarentaise Valley, La Rosiere has carved a place in the family skiing almanac and it is well deserved. Claire Gill and her husband took their three boys last season with Peak Retreats and would recommend it as a fantastic budget option. They drove out (flight availability is already one of the major problems with half term trips), breaking their journey in gorgeous Beaune and stayed in a self-catering Les Cimes Blanches apartment in Les Eucherts, the quieter ‘dwelling’ 10 min walk via a pretty path through the woods (2 min drive) with its own ice rink and bowling alley, small supermarket and ski hire shop. Cosy but with a great indoor pool and mini spa, the boys enrolled in the excellent ski school and in the evenings there are a handful of very nice restaurants, from top end dinner at the new Hyatt to pizza at the bowling alley. Or a good option is a new delivery service from Peak Retreats; order food from the COOK menu for relaxed dinner in your apartment. There is still availability over Feb half term in Les Cimes Blanches. Apartments from £2,583 including Eurotunnel flex-plus. Click here for details.
