Can you imagine what your house might look like in the future? Perhaps we’ll be living in floating space pods or underwater cities. Children can join the Design Museum to ponder these questions and to find out more as they explore ideas from the Home Futures exhibition and create their vision of futuristic housing. They will learn new poster and graphic design skills and create a stunning collaged design to take home in a picture frame. Sunday, 31st March. 1–4pm. Ages 8–11.
Little ones can sign up for an intensive week-long art workshop at the Islington Arts Factory where everything will revolve around sheep! Children can spend the whole week making their very own sheep sculpture. By the end of the course, Islington Arts Factory will have an entire flock of ewes, rams and lambs ready to roam the gallery as part of the MakeArt exhibition in December 2019. 8–12 April. 11am–3pm. Ages 5–11.
Why not book an off-the-beaten-track tour of London’s top street art, followed by the chance to create your very own graffiti masterpiece? Across two and a half hours, you’ll be taken down the side streets and alleyways of Shoreditch and Hoxton to see everything from huge murals to miniature masterpieces painted on discarded gum. You’ll get to hear the stories behind each piece, as well as a fascinating insight into the history of the scene. Once the tour ends you’ll head to the Alternative London warehouse studio to get some expert tuition on spray can techniques and stencilling, before creating your very own piece to take home. Suitable for ages 10+.
The wonderful creative hub, Kite Studios are running 2 weeks of fab courses for Easter! We love the sound of the Hobby Horses and Fabric Puppets class which is a playful exploration of animals through 3D modelling (9th April) and Feelings through Flowers where kiddies can explore floral patterns and prints and try their hands on the etching press. Fun!
