Lockdown: Week 5

1. Back to School

This is Bella at the end of Day 2 of the first week of term. Impressive, no? In truth, we are all rather welcoming the return to routines. The battle to wake sleeping teens seems more purposeful when they have to join an online Assembly at 8.30am. It's tougher for younger ones (and their mums) who need more supervision but we are getting into the swing. End of day letting off steam is essential. As is reading. We are finding that down time with a real life book is more important than ever. Interestingly, some of our lot seem to be recognising this themselves and picking them up unprompted. For a round up of bookish inspiration, click here.

2. Potty Training Success!

Luna is a week into big girl pants. Louise is slightly missing nappies, Luna not so much - the novelty of new colourful pants has won her over. There have been a few days of no accidents, but with those has been plenty of bribery. Sadly the sticker excitement wore off after day one, and Louise had to resort to presents (but only for a number 2!). They are hoping the extended lockdown will mean that once they are let out the potty can be left behind… Until then the Ladybird Potty is always close by.

3. The prettiest face masks around

Look at what our brilliant founder Annie is up to. Made from a range of pretty fabrics, lined and interfaced (with specific anti-COVID interface available from 28 April), all proceeds go to the NHS. DM her on her insta feed Lucky 4 Finds to order. £7.

4. Animal Magic

For something a bit different, do have a listen to Messages from the Wild, a series of short interviews with lesser known wild animals (hedgehog, barn owl, and my favourite - the Highland midge). About 5 minutes long, they will surprise, amuse and inform. Discovery of the week!

wild boar piglets

If your children are being inspired by nature this Earth Day week, we have a fab round up of Animal Fun in Lockdown. From wild boar piglets at Whipsnade to a new penguin weighing scale in London Zoo, see what is going on. We are just loving the sound of Frog Friday, launching live at the Manchester Museum tomorrow!
