Several of London's galleries have already re-opened in a socially distanced way. August is the month for museums. Make sure you check opening days/hours and book in advance.
Imperial War Museum
The Imperial War Museums and the Churchill War Rooms will reopen on 1 August. 10am–6pm. Advanced booking open now. Click here for details.
NHM, V&A, Science Museum
The South Ken Big Three are doing a staggered re-opening:
- The Natural History Museum kicks off on 5 Aug, Wed–Sun 11am–6pm. Click here for details.
- The V&A is doing phased re-opening starting with ground and lower ground floor galleries on 6 Aug, Thurs–Sun 11am–3pm. Further opening, including the fab Kimono: Kyoto to Catwalk from 27 Aug 11am–7pm. Click here for details.

The Royal Academy
Camille Pissarro, Plum Trees in Blossom Ordrupgaard, Copenhagen
The galleries are open Thurs-Sun, 11am–4pm. Tickets to Picasso and Paper are sold out.
Gaugin and the Impressionists opens on 7 Aug–18 Oct. Current ticket allocations are sold out but more will be released next month. Click here for details.
London Transport Museum
The Museum remains closed but the Acton Depot is open 19–23 Aug and 26–30 Aug with a family-friendly trail. Click here to book.
Dulwich Picture Gallery
The Gallery remains closed but from tomorrow (Friday) anyone can experience the gallery’s acclaimed British Surrealism exhibition for free online, with a virtual walk through produced with The Net Gallery. Click here for a preview. The cafe and lovely gallery gardens are open.
