If you visit a London museum on Friday, you’re in for a big surprise! Friday 23 November is Takeover Day, run by charity Kids in Museums, when museums, historic homes, galleries, libraries and archives invite young people in to work alongside staff and take over the adult jobs.
Over 20 London museums, including the British Museum, The Museum of Childhood, The National Army Museum, the Museum of Transport and the Wallace Collection are set to be taken over, so keep your eyes peeled for toddler curators, teenage tour guides, primary school press officers and secondary school CEOs.
Look out for ‘I’m Taking Over’ stickers and ‘We’re Being Taken Over’ posters on organisations’ front doors. To see which museums are taking part near you, take a look at the online map.
