From the fantastic Luna Kids Cinema and Popup Screens to St Katherine Docks Floating Film Festival, we have rounded up the best family-friendly outdoor cinemas to visit this summer in London. Find Luna Kids Cinema in the stunning gardens of Hampton Court Palace from 14–18 August. Dumbo, Aladdin, Mary Poppins Returns, Harry Potter, Moana and The Gruffalo are all on their line-up, just to name a few. If you forgot to pack a picnic, you don't have to worry. You can load up on healthy treats and snacks from The Luna Kids Bar.
The Nomad Cinema will be popping up all across London. For a family-friendly screening, head to Citypoint this Friday (21 June) to see The Greatest Showman. The season will close with Bohemian Rhapsody at Queen's Park on 7 Sept.
Families can find Popup Screens outdoor cinemas at numerous locations this summer such as Hammersmith, Fulham, Holborn, Brixton, City of London and many more. You can watch classics like Grease, Mamma Mia, Jurassic Park or The Greatest Showman. Kids will love Mary Poppins Returns, Wall-E, The Incredibles or the Little Mermaid. VIP tickets come with chairs if you don't want the hassle but you can bring your own camping chairs or blankets if you'd like to be prepared.
This lovely family-friendly festival runs all summer (until 1 September). Movies to watch include The Incredibles 2, Fantastic Beasts, Hotel Transylvania and Mamma Mia 2. But that's not all. Other family highlights worth popping in for are the Kids Plant Workshop, Fantastic Fairytales with Rhubarb Theatre and Shakespeare for families. The Arena Square will come to life with summer screenings including Hollywood hits, classic singalongs, Bollywood blockbusters, and even outdoor screenings live from the Royal Opera House. 19th July will be a great family day if you fancy a visit as The Greatest Showman will be on screen. Screenings are completely FREE (but you need to register in advance), and be sure to get there early for pre-show entertainment, food, drink, and to secure your seat!
16–28 July. Board the floating platform, pull up a deck chair or snuggle down in a bean bag and watch some great films! For kids, we recommend Aquaman, Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins Returns and The Greatest Showman. A nice selection of snacks, soft and alcoholic drinks is available on the pontoon.
1–31 Aug (Wed–Sun). Enjoy the first-ever outdoor cinema in the Grove's Walled Garden. Grab your headphones and a beanbag and choose your spot in the sun or under the stars, snuggled in a blanket. Tickets will be available for hotel residents and guests on cinema dining packages only. Family films to watch include ET, Jumanji, Beauty and the Beast, Matilda, The Jungle Book, Peter Rabbit, Coco and many more.

18 June–3 Aug. Time Out's movie boat is back this summer with a sunset cruise from the Tower of London. Once the sun disappears, you'll dock up in the shadow of some of London's most famous sights and play a movie on the open-air top deck. For family outings, we recommend The Greatest Showman, Mary Poppins Returns or Mamma Mia.
