Take your pick from the packed programme of transport themed activities and experiences this weekend at the London Transport Museum – from musical story time sessions, miniature steam railway rides and heritage bus excursions to specially designed family tours of the Depot and creative make and take sessions. We love the sound of the Bus King Theatre, percussion party and The Big Picture. 13–14 July. 11am–5pm.
The Great British Food Festival is taking place this weekend in the grounds of the stunning walled gardens at Chiswick park over the weekend. There will be Men V Food challenges, a Cake Off – where entries who bring a cake along get free food festival entry, a chef demo stage, kids cookery lessons, forager walks and live music throughout the day. Plus lots of food and drink producers, street food vendors and pop up bars in attendance - it's going to be a fun foodie day out for the whole family. Book online for discounted tickets. 12–14 July.
The Summer Mile Family Race Day is back this Saturday at Ascot Racecourse. There is a competitive seven-race card, live music, picnic lawns, and champagne and cocktail bars to enjoy. Family highlights include a Teddy Bears’ picnic, fairground rides, storytelling and magicians in a dedicated family zone themed around ‘My First festival’. Saturday, 13th July. Gates open at 11am.
The traffic-free Summer Streets festival returns this Sunday to Regent's Street. With 2019 marking Regent Street’s 200th Anniversary, this year’s line-up is set to be better than ever. Get your family together to try your hand at Regent Street’s green games; a life-sized board game designed to teach families all about living more sustainably. Or get competitive with a race to recycle, slam dunk junk or pollen ping pong, all with the aim of becoming a Regent Street Green Champion. Hamleys will also be hosting a pirate themed treasure hunt for younger guests. Browse the full list of activities by clicking on the header. Sunday, 14th July.
