Plan your family weekend with the kids with our round up of what's on in London 30th November–1 December
We have heaps and heaps of inspiration for things to do in London this weekend. The following events are all a&u recommended and should be on everyone's radar. Click on the headers and links for more info and to book:
Step into a festive wintry wetland wonderland! Go on Festive Rides aboard a husky sleigh (ages 2–8). Sign up for an Elves Workshop where you can help the elves make special gifts and decorations in their winter crafting workshops. Get your face painted and be transformed into a Christmas character or a wetland creature. Don't forget to visit Santa in his cosy grotto too. Selected weekend only.
This Sunday, author Cary Bexington will be visiting the Bright Emporium for a very Special Storytime Sunday. Carys will read her new book ‘The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland’, a fabulous festive mash-up that sees St Nick venture into Wonderland to deliver a present of the upmost importance! Carys will also be leading a crafting activity based on the book, as well as signing and answering questions. 3–4pm. Tickets cost £10 per child.
Join Dash and Rex, the royal dogs, in a musical storytelling tour around the Royal Mews to help save Christmas! Father Christmas's sleigh has broken and Christmas may have to be cancelled if a replacement can't be found in the Royal Mews! You can also take part in the final celebrations for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s 200th birthdays by making Christmas cards and singing carols. Saturday, 30th November. 11am. Free with standard admission.
Make sparkling decorations and glistening bunting in Santa's hideaway as part of daily Winter Decoration Making workshops. Join in for some Seasonal Sing-a-long every day at 11.30am or 1.30pm. Santa himself will also be dropping into the Museum throughout December. You can meet him in his wintry hideaway. Opens this Saturday.
The London Eye will be hosting their own merry ode to the holiday season by transforming one of its world-famous capsules into the ultimate snow globe experience. From 29 Nov–4 Dec, one special pod will be transforming into a fully immersive traditional London Christmas scene, fitted with real pine trees, a flickering lamppost, quintessential London park bench and even a traditional red post box, topped off with snowballs and wooden logs.
The Kensington Doll House Festival returns this Saturday! See top class craftsmen and their incredible work. We love the sound of the Gingerbread Craft Club where children can learn how to decorate their dolls house for Christmas, making wreaths, stockings & stringing up Christmas Cards, as well as decorating a Christmas Tree of their own. The Golden Treasure Hunt also returns which is a great way to keep your children entertained. Golden coins are hidden around the show for you to find on your treasure map.
