We were hugely excited when we heard Bridget Riley was opening at the Hayward Gallery. Well the wait is over and we can report that you are in for a visual feast. With vast canvases, mind bending curves, splendid stripes, curious curves and vibrant diagonals it's a treat for all ages.
Her iconic black-and-white paintings from the 60s are a kaleidoscopic delight. Almost dizzy making in fact creating the cleverest optical illusions.
The exhibition also showcases rarely-seen drawings as well as studies that offer a real insight into Riley’s working methods, highlighting both her recent works and explaining how she has drawn inspiration from other artists over the years.
It's Insta heaven and hugely visually satisfying as well as very calming. A great one for kids of all ages with multiple exhibition rooms and masses of areas to spread out and explore. Head upstairs to our favourite rooms; Stripes and Diagonals and Curves. Lots of comfy benches for little tired feet too.
A total joy.
