Timeless Glamour at the NPG

Lose yourself for a few hours in the glittering and extravagant world of Cecil Beaton's dazzling Bright Young Things. From stunning debutants to high spirited revellers delve into this most glamorous of golden eras. The exhibition encapsulates the lifestyle of the privilaged party set in the roaring twenties and thirties perfectly.

Look out for the camera Beaton was given for his 12th birthday. His nanny randomly had a good knowledge of photography and helped little Cecil process and develop his photos in the family bath.

Not only did Beaton have this hugely helpful nanny he also had two BEAUTIFUL sisters, Nancy and Baba, who would pose on demand for as many pictures as he wanted to take. The stunning vintage prints of these two beauties line the gallery walls.

Becoming a huge celebrity in his own right there are heaps of self portraits too. Discover the history of his transformation from middle class school boy to a glittering social society figure and the star of Vogue. Look out for his charming personal scrap books littered with photos of the rich and famous.

From actors to poets, socialites to artists his iconic photographic style really draws you in. Flitting from London townhouses to their country piles the lives of the upper-classes are captured brilliantly.

We think it's a great show for any budding little photographers who love a bit of dressing up! Probably best for ages 10+. Fabulous exhibition shop too. We loved it.

Visit on a Friday when U25's get in for a fiver. Pop along after school as the Gallery is open until 8.50pm. U12s free.
