It must be summer, the RA's annual whoosh of the good and the not so good is back in Burlington House. After the colour-filled bonanza of Grayson Perry's show last year, this one was always going to be a bit less exuberant.
Kids will find much to enjoy nevertheless. The first central hall is filled with a menagerie of animals, led by a gloriously growling tiger with a coat of tea cake wrappers. Once they have had their fill of parrots, dogs, cats, elephants and an excellent Brexit mouse, get them to go on an explore to see what other animals they can find among the rooms. Highlights include a sad polar bear in one two rooms with a climate theme and some verbose crows, aptly titled Parliament (the voices in your head).
Plus do play the 'how much is it worth?' game. The unpriced works and accompanying catalogue makes art critics of all of us.
Fun.
