Had you heard of her? We hadn't and nearly didn't make time for the press view. So pleased we did. Natalia Goncharova was big news in Russia pre-Revolution and her 1913 exhibition in Moscow was a huge hit. She emigrated to Paris during the war and was a key member of the modernist art movement. She designed ballet costumes for Diaghilev's Ballet Russes and died in 1962.

Kids and grown ups alike will respond to the astonishing energy, colour and vitality of her work. Russian peasants picking apples, harvesting corn; a range of linocuts of representations of death (in response to her lifelong partner's injury in the Great War); a cyclist, a rower; the combination of folklore and magic that she brought to her flamboyant ballet costumes and sets.
