Mary Quant opened her boutique, Bazaar, on the Kings' Road in 1955. The grainy black and white film of a Chelsea pub that greets you as you come in sets the scene of the post-War Britain that she revolutionised.

This small show - two galleries within the permanent fashion collection at the V&A - beautifully captures the impact she had on our lives. Epitome of the swinging 60s, her wearable clothes in stretchy material, mass-produced, brought style to the high street. The ground floor tells the story of her early years and of London (specifically the King's Road) at this time. The colours are predominantly browns, oranges, black and white. This section finishes with her collaboration with Vidal Sassoon and the daring haircut that launched a thousand copies.

Go upstairs, into the late 60s and 70s and you are drenched with colour and flowers, including her iconic daisies.

At this point, older mums (me) will enjoy remembering their own childhoods. Hours spent poring over cut out dolls in comic books, dressing up Barbie and Cindy to be mini Mary Quants - the products are presented, next to the clothes that inspired them.

The perfect counterpoint to the haute couture of M. Dior.
